For more information for Christmas Holidays

Day 1 / Kathmandu
Today is an arrival day and no activities are planned, so you may arrive at any time. If you are arriving early in Kathmandu you may wish to wander down to Durbar Square, which is the spiritual heart of the city located only 10 minutes walk from our hotel. Please ask at the hotel reception for suggestions of things to see and do in Kathmandu. A pre-departure meeting for the first (Nepal) part of your tour takes place this evening at the hotel. Please also check the noticeboard for details of this meeting and for any other messages from your tour leader. Please also bring your passport and travel insurance documents to the meeting, where your tour leader will also collect your local payment. Afterwards we have the opportunity to go out for an optional group dinner.

Day 2 / Kathmandu

Pashupatinath Temple, with its astonishing architectural beauty, stands as a symbol of faith, religion, culture and tradition.

Today we visit Bodhnath Stupa, one of the biggest Buddhist shrines in the world, where we observe Buddhist monks in prayer in the monasteries surrounding the stupa. We also visit Pashupatinath, the most famous Hindu temple in the country, located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Here we see Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditating, pilgrims bathing and occasionally funeral pyres burning on the ghats. The rest of our time in Kathmandu is free for further sightseeing and exploration. You may wish to wander back into the centre of town, scour the shops in Thamel or just relax in the hotel gardens. Alternatively you may wish to arrange for a taxi to take you out to Bhaktapur, probably the most fascinating of the medieval towns in the Kathmandu Valley.

Day 3 / Pokhara

Mountain View From Phewa Lake

This morning we drive out over the rim of the Kathmandu Valley before descending to follow the Trisuli River Valley. On a clear morning, views of the Ganesh, Manaslu and Annapurna ranges can be seen as we head west to the town of Pokhara. After a driving journey of six hours, we arrive in the early afternoon and check into our hotel. The rest of the afternoon is free to wander around the shops or relax in one of the cafes by the lakeside. Alternatively there is the option of a boat ride out on to the lake.

Day 4 / Ghandruk
(Walking time: approx 5 hours)

Nepal Trekking, Trekking Nepal, Ghandruk Trek, Annapurna Area in Nepal, Trekking to Ghandruk, Trekking Ghandrung, Treks to Ghandruk, Ghandruk Tre.

<
We catch a bus for the fairly short drive to the village of Naya Phul. In clear conditions, there are fine views of Annapurna peaks and the famous fishtail peak Machhapuchhare along the way. We commence our short Annapurna trek and for the first hour we follow a dirt track road along the banks of the Modi Khola River to the villages of Birethanti and Shyauli. From Syauli we then ascend above the valley floor on a stone staircase. To the north, there are again superb views of the Annapurna Mountains. A short but steep section leads to Kimche (1630m) where we take lunch before following a wide and well-defined path of stone flags that contours through fields of wheat and millet to the largest village in the region, Ghandruk, which is the site of our overnight lodge. There are great views of the Annapurnas from here.

Day 5 / Tolkha
(Walking time: approx 5 hours)
We are now over 600 metres above the Modi Khola and we can look east across the valley to Landruk, the next major village on the trek. Close as it may seem, this requires a steep descent down to the river and then a steady climb back up the other side. The scenery is fabulous on this section and more than makes up for the effort of the walk down and the climb up the other side. We take lunch at Landruk, a neat Gurung village, before contouring around the valley and ascending to the small village of Tolka (1780m).

Day 6 / Dhampus
(Walking time: approx 4 hours)

Dhampus Trek

After breakfast we continue the climb uphill to the pass at Bhichok Deorali. Here, after a welcome break, we descend through forest of oak and rhododendron to Pothana for lunch. In the afternoon we descend gradually following the crest of the ridge, through pretty forest of oak and rhododendron to the village of Dhampus and our overnight halt. From here there are superb panoramic views including the 8000-metre peak of Manaslu to the east and we will have the opportunity of enjoying both sunset and sunrise from our lodge.

Day 7 / Pokhara
(Walking time: approx 2 hours)
After breakfast and enjoying the views of the Annapurna range we pass through the village and descend steeply into the Yamdi Khola river valley to Phedi. Here we catch our transport to our hotel in Pokhara. We arrive in time for lunch and the rest of the afternoon is free to unwind. We have time to explore the lake and to enjoy the many excellent restaurants and cafes in this beautiful lakeside town.

Day 8 / Seti River Whitewater Rafting
We leave Pokhara after breakfast for the short drive to the start of our rafting adventure on the Seti River. After introductions to our rafting crew we then put on jackets and helmets, have a short safety briefing before taking to the water. This river is an ideal and gentle introduction to whitewater rafting. Over the next two days we raft for approximately 30 kilometres through beautiful countryside, with plenty of small fun rapids. Lunch is taken on one of the many pristine white beaches and there are plenty of opportunities to swim in the warm waters. In the afternoon we continue our gentle pace down the river to reach our camp by mid-afternoon and enjoy free time before our cook serves a hearty evening meal. After dinner we relax and enjoy reliving the thrills of the day’s rafting.
Meals included: 1 lunch, 1 dinner

Mera peak is one of the most popular trekking peaks in Nepal. The walk from Lukla through the Sherpa regions of the remote Inkhu valley is an unforgettable experience. This peak is located south of Everest in the Hinku valley and is relatively easier to climb than most other peaks. You will witness superb scenery and abundant wildlife, possibly catching a glimpse of the legendary yeti. It takes about six days to reach base camp where climbers stay for two nights. From there, the climb takes about three to four days, depending on weather conditions. Although the climb is not technically difficult, it requires a strong physical condition and good mountaineering skills. Climbing Mera peak requires mountaineering skills and a special permit from the Nepal Mountaineering Association.

We follow the original Everest expedition route at the trail head from Jiri, cross spectacular gorges and visit the Peak before entering Sherpa regions of Solu Khumbu, the wilderness of Hinku Valley. This is a fascinating trek in itself. Ample time for acclimation is allowed en route to our base camp on the Mera La (Pass). The return to Kathmandu is easy for your plane will get back to the wonderful Sherpa areas and the gigantic Himalayas.

Details Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu.
Arrive into Kathmandu any time this day. Meet at our Nepal Representative (Nepal Visitors Trekking and Walking) start hotel in the Thamel

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour.
Day at leisure to fit yourself with all necessary equipment. If time permits you may wish to explore Kathandu’s many historic squares, temples and narrow streets. Great Buddhist Stupa at Boudhnath and the Tibetan community that resides there.

Day 3: Fly Kathmandu to Lukla and trek to Puyan.
An early morning stunning flight to the gateway to the region of the legendary Sherpas. Start trek to Puyan. We descend steeply towards the Dudh Koshi (the torrent that thunders from the flanks of Everest), passing an array of travelers and the first encounters with the extraordinary Sherpas carrying gravity defying stacks of goods to markets up in Namche Bazaar.

2 hrs then climb steeply up from the far side of the valley to where there are spectacular views both upwards to Cho Oyu and down into the plummeting canyon to the river below. A further 2 hours brings us toour lunch stop. We continue through rhododendron forest that in the pre-monsoon is awash with reds and pinks. The huge Magnolia trees add their large white flowers to the canvas as we enjoy a level walk to our night stop in Puyan. O/N altitude 2,820 m. Trek 5 hours approx.

Day 4: Trek To Pangum.
We set off on a gentle 1.5 hour climb to the Khari La pass (2,860m), with today’s destination already visible in the distance as we pass through dense forest with occasional glimpses of the white peaks emerging above the clouds. A gradual hour-long descent to lunch is followed by a steady climb for 2 ½ hours to Pangum. O/N altitude 3,100m. Trek 4 hours approx.

Day 5: Trek To Ningsow.
A short climb brings us to the Pangum La (3,010m) where we cross over into the fabled, awesome and empty Inkhu Valley and we pass through the village of Bhusme (approx. 1hr on), which is the last permanent habitation we shall see. It’s another 3 hour walk to our night stop at Ningsow; just a name and a couple of shepherd’s huts in a forest clearing. O/N altitude 3,100m. Trek 4 hours approx.

Day 6: Trek To Chhetra Thanga.
Today is a long one – climbing and descending the steep and rugged spurs that line the Inkhu Khola valley; the glimpses through the dense forest of the torrent below us are truly dramatic. This is the Himalayan river torrent of steepest descent cutting a jagged incision through this ancient glacial valley while the trail encounters landslides as it clings to the V-shaped valley’s precipitous western edge. The finale to the raw, natural feel of today’s trek is our camp in the only suitable location – a cave under a huge overhanging rock deep in the forest. O/N altitude 3,300m. Trek 7 hours approx.

Day 7: Trek To Kothe (Mosom Kharka).
A short but steep 500m climb after breakfast offers interesting views; South to the rolling foothills of a few days before, North to Mera Peak itself and our first sight of its dramatic southwest face. The forest is untouched, beautiful, tall pine and moss, lichen and rhododendron creating a peaceful soulful feel during today’s walk as we descend to the upper Inkhu Khola and arrive at a few huts and the summer yak pastures that is Kothe. O/N altitude 3,691m. Trek 5 hours approx.

Day 8: Trek To Thangnak.
The scenery is taking on a very different character now – Peak 43 sits at the head of the valley and to our right in the east and in morning shadow is the dark west face of Mera. At lunch, with Mera as a backdrop, the reality of it all arrives like a doubtful guest – one you are not sure you should have invited! This guest then accompanies us into camp and will be with us for the next seven days. O/N altitude 4,200m. Trek 4 hours approx.

Day 9: Acclimatisation In Thangnak.
This will be our first of three acclimatisation schedules; using the day to hike to near-by glaciers up to 5,000m. O/N altitude 4,200m. Acclimatisation day walks 4hrs approx.

Day 10: Trek To Khare.
Our trail to Khare takes us eastwards across the moraine of the Dig Glacier. Though the climb up the moraine is not steep, you will feel the effects of the altitude and it will be a couple hours before we reach open pasture at Dig Kharka. There the trail levels out before crossing a stream and climbing for another hour to Khare. We have trekked in a northerly arc and are now rewarded by stunning views of the north face of Mera. O/N altitude 4,900m. Trek 4 hours approx.

Day 11: Climb To Mera La (5,415m) and back to Khare.
A second day for acclimatisation. Here we use the moraine and scree slopes of the base of the Mera Glacier to familiarize ourselves with high altitude gear, with safety practices, with climbing techniques. And so we climb – towards the Mera La, our route winding its way between the crevasses on the glacier’s lower eastern flank. After half an hour, the gradient eases and we emerge onto the wide plateau that leads up to the Pass.

A further hour’s climbing and we see the prayer flags marking our arrival at the Mera La (5,415m). From here there is the view that clearly shows the step-by-step route to the summit a thousand meters on up. But this is mere rehearsal. In the afternoon, we descend to Khare. O/N altitude 4,900m. Acclimatisation and Kit familiarization day 4-5hrs approx.

Day 12: Climb To High Camp (5,800m) – down to Base Camp.
Other expeditions are known to opt to go straight to High Camp from Khare and then attempt the summit the following day. This is a risk we don’t take, preferring instead further acclimatization which can, often does, make the critical difference. So we climb with high altitude support staff who establish a Base Camp at 5,100m near the foot of the glacier.

The summit team then continues the climb and the acclimatisation process – a businesslike ascent in which we have time to take in our surroundings up to what, tomorrow, will be our High Camp. The views of Everest, Makalu, Lhotse and Kanchanjunga are what we came here to see – stunning! Today however we then descend to Base Camp for what anyway is our first night above 5,000m. O/N Altitude 5,100m. Climb 6 hours inc acclimatisation approx.

Day 13: Climb To Mera High Camp.
Following the now familiar route back up the glacier we should find today’s climb easier than yesterday. Our team consists now of the summit party supported by a cook plus any others needed to porter but who will then descend to wait at Khare for our return. Arriving at High Camp mid-afternoon, we spend the rest of the day resting and eating in preparation for a pre-dawn start. Our campsite on the leeside of a rocky outcrop below the glacier is spectacular – a precarious picture truly high Himalayan in its minimal content! O/N Altitude 5,800m. Climb 6 hours approx. Includes: (B), (L), (D).

Day 14: Summit Day (6,461m) then descend to Khare.
It’s a shock to the system; emerging from tents around 2 a.m. for the arduous climb to the summit. Navigating up a snow covered mountain under Himalayan star light is a very unworldly feeling. Sunrise means gaining the first of the false summits and a few hours later our goal will be close, with the final test a number of crevasses that line our trail before the gradient steepens dramatically. We rope up and painstakingly ascend the final steep hurdle to the summit of Mera (6,461m).

This last hurdle is certainly a test of stamina and resolve. We have been on our feet for at least 6 hours. The panorama of peaks that greets us from the summit will blow all notions of tiredness from our limbs. The view from here has to be one of the finest in the Himalaya. But we need to descend; down the Mera Glacier, past High Camp and back down to Khare. It’s been grueling but topped by an incredible sense of utter elation, achievement and fulfillment. O/N altitude 4,900m. Climb 10-12 hours approx.

Days 15-17: Trek Khare to Lukla.
We retrace the route back to Lukla; the distance seems to fly by. With renewed supplies of red blood cells coursing through veins, and increased oxygen in the atmosphere, we hardly notice the occasional climbs. Before long we have arrived back in Lukla where apple pie and cold beers await.

Day 18: Fly to Kathmandu.
We catch our short but spectacular flight back to Kathmandu (approx 45 minutes) and transfer to our hotel. You day is free to explore Kathmandu further, hit the shops or chill out at the many cafes and bars. Meet up in the evening for final night celebration dinner.

Days 19-20: Kathmandu (Spare day) and departure.
Day 19 is an extra day built into the program to allow for adverse weather conditions and acclimatization difficulties which may delay flights or the climb. If not needed this day will be spent at Kathmandu at your leisure. Depart at any time on Day 20.

Gokyo Renjo la Pass Trekking is a very exciting and joyful trekking/hiking of Everest Region via Renjo La pass which offers exciting experience and clear panoramic views of high mountains. Gokyo trek via Renjo La is a most popular Everest region trekking where trekkers have many opportunities to follow different path having high passes which is particularly very famous. Gokyo via Renjo La is a short route trekking/hiking especially designed for those who have got limited time to discover the most famous beauties of Nepal offering breath-taking high mountain scenery through the Khumbu – The Sherpa country. The Gokyo Trek to renjo la pass offers an alternative to the traditional Everest base camp trek. From Goyko RI, more of Everest itself is visible than from Kala Pattar above Gorak Shep. The mountains are more spectacular, the Ngozumpa Glacier is the largest in the Nepal Himalaya and, from a ridge above Goyko, and four 8000-meter peaks (Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu) are visible. The view of the tremendous ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung Kang (7922m) is one of the most dramatic panoramas in Khumbu. This trek is little less crowded then the base camp trek.

Island Peak Climbing offers an enjoyable climb the peak, also provides some of the most striking scenery in the Khumbu. If the peak can be likened to an Island in a glacial sea, than the main land forms a semicircle of cliffs that rise in the north to the rugged summit of Nuptse ( 7879m/ 25850ft ), Lhotse ( 9501m/27870ft), Lhotse middle peak( 8410m/ 27590ft), as yet still unclimbed and Lhotse Shar ( 8383m/ 27503ft ). To the south of the Imja glacier and icy flutings of Baruntse (7720m/ 25328ft) and the Amphu peaks lead the eye to the lofty pinnacle of Ama Dablam ( 6856m/ 22493ft ), which is liked a giant sea – stack guarding the entrance to the glacial bay in which Island peak stands.

The Annapurna Base Camp trek is considered by many as one the most celebrated trekking routes and the first among the ten best treks in the world. It offers a fascinating insight into the life of middle hill Nepalese, ethnic groups from Hindu farmers to Tibetan Lamas, incredible views of many of the Himalayas’ most famous high peaks, crystal clear lakes, and turbulent rivers with deep gorges and hot springs. Trekking in Annapurna provides you with unparalleled access to spectacular horizons of snowy peaks, and the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek combines some of the most fantastic mountain scenery with a fascinating insight into the life of middle hill Nepalese. The trail takes us through an ever-changing landscape of rice fields, misty forests and lowland local villages to the glacier. It offers a fine opportunity to surround oneself with Himalayan peaks and to witness the glacier basin of Annapurna Sanctuary formed by Annapurna, Machhapurchre (Fishtail, Himchuli, and Manaslu). This used to be a complicated trek due to problems with food and lodging. However, there are now many facilities between Ghandruk and Annapurna Base Camp along this trail only used by trekkers. Annapurna Base Camp can be approached by at least three different routes. Here we have described one of three options.

Nepal, the land of splendid nature and rich culture is waiting for you exploration through its different facets. Explore Nepal tour gives you an opportunity to explore three different regions of the country, varying from the cultural hub teemed with fascinating ancient building like Kathmandu, the breathtaking scenery of Annapurna Range like Pokhara, and the vast, fertile forest like Chitwan National Park in Terai region. This remarkable Kathmandu pokhara chitwan tour will make you realize that Nepal has much to offer. The Chitwan has had a long history of conservation. For many years it was the Royal hunting grounds for the Kings and dignitaries of Nepal and therefore was not hunted by the general public. It did however become a favorite spot for big game safari hunters in the late nineteenth and early to mid-twentieth centuries. This was coupled with a surge in local human populations following the development of anti-malaria medicines in the mid-twentieth century. The long-term effect was a drastic decrease in jungle habitat and animal populations in the Chitwan valley as jungles were converted to farmland and big game were hunted and poached to dangerously low numbers.

Detail itinerary
Day 01: Arrival KATHMANDU International Airport, welcome transfer to hotel and rest of the day free for leisure. Overnight at hotel. Q/N.

Day 02: After breakfast, half day sightseeing or Pashupatinath temple, Bouddhanath Stupa. Enjoy a traditional Nepalese dance program in the evening.

Day 03: After breakfast, departure transfers to the airport for flight to Pokhara. Check into hotel after arriving at Pokhara. Rest of the day leisure.

Day 04: After breakfast, half day sightseeing tour of Pokhara. Return to hotel or lunch, 1 hour boat ride on the Fewa lake.

Day 05: After breakfast, transfer to Chitwan by road. Check into lodge/resort/Camp. Jungle activities after lunch.

Day 06: Full day Jungle activities.

Day 07: After breakfast, either departure transfers to Bharatpur airport for flight to Kathmandu or overland transportation to Kathmandu. Arrive kathmandu.

Day 08: Departure transfer to airport for onward flight
